My HP Envy 5000 worked fine until I upgraded to windows 10 from windows 7. I spent a few hours and downloaded a app on the laptop that didn't help either. On windows 10 it seems hard to delete the HP software for the Envy 5000 and don't even list it in the remove section. I am so stuck. Anyone else have this issue and resolved it? Problems include small print and skipped lines. Just a mess and can not read the printed page

I suppose I am the only one with this printer and problems after upgrading to windows 10. Print is so tiny can not even read it and very light. Guess I am just screwed with using windows 10 and no help since no one else has had this trouble.

Hi @ron351,
I'd be happy to assist you
I understand you are unable to install the printer on your computer.
Let's try and uninstall the printer software from the root level on your PC and install the full feature printer software.
First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.
- Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP printer entries and uninstall them.
- Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
- Restart your computer.
- Click the bottom-left Start button on desktop, type device manager in the search box and tap Device Manager on the menu.
- Once in device manager, click on the view tab in the top & choose “Show hidden devices”.
- Then from the device manager list, check the entries under “Printer” – If there are any entries, please right click and choose “uninstall” – In the confirm device un-install pop-up, make sure you select the box which says “Delete the driver software for this device".
- Also, check the entries under "printer queue" and "imaging devices" and repeat the same exercise. Delete any printer entry or any entry which says “Unknown device”.
- Once done, close device-manger. Then press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" and press enter.
- Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
- Again, go running window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
- Once done you can try cleaning out your temporary files and cached files. You can try using automated applications like some cleaner software's that you can download from the internet.
- Now restart your computer again.
- Open the Run window again, type “services.msc” and press ok to get services window.
- Scroll down to “Remote Procedure Call (RPC)” – right-click and go to properties. Make sure the service is started and startup type is “Automatic”.
- Now scroll up and go to “Function Discovery Provider Host” – right-click and select properties – Change the startup type to “manual” and start the service.
- Repeat the same exercise on “Function Discovery Resource Publication” as well
- Windows image acquisition stop and restart the service
Reinstall the drivers from the Software and drivers page
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Jay thanks for the detailed reply. I did everything in order. Not sure why upgrading from windows7 to windows 10 has such a hard time with the transition for this printer but at least HP was able to see it online to register it again. But printing is very faded like before. Will see if I can add a picture of the page it printed out.

Thank you for getting back to me.
To assist better-
1) Does the copy print out the same way?
2) What's the application you are trying to print from? Have you tried printing from a different application or device?
While you respond to that, let's print a Print Quality Diagnostic page -
-
Load the printer with plain white paper.
-
On the printer control panel, swipe left on the display, and then touch Setup
.
-
Touch Tools.
-
Swipe up on the display, and then touch Print Quality Report.
Post the Print Quality Diagnostic page here so we can help you further.
You may also refer to this document with steps to fix " Print Quality Issues" issue applicable for your printer - Print Quality Issues
Also, try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I use HP Smart to print with. It is the only one I seen available for windows 10
If I open a PDF file and hit print not going through HP Smart then nothing happens.
I printed out the "Print Quality Report" will attach it to this reply.
It says I have the latest firmware, did updates tried everything possible.

may have got it finally. After reinstalling 10 times and removing. I connected the USB and it printed ok. Then disconnected the USB and went to printing hardly anything again. So did this a few times installing over and over again to the point I was going to toss it in the trash it seems to be printing good enough for now.
I put in old ink cartridges it said I can use them because I enrolled with the HP instant ink program, so put them back in and then printed a page ok.
I will try it a few times randomly this week and get back if it acts up again.
I appreciate the help you offered, you were the only one.
