@patliston, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP Officejet Pro 8610!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Just to clarify, printers like the OfficeJet Pro don’t use a "graphic driver" the way computers do, but they do rely on specific printer drivers and software to handle printing tasks smoothly.

You can get the official HP printer driver and software for your OfficeJet Pro 8610 directly from HP’s website here:

HP OfficeJet Pro 8610 Drivers & Software

A couple of quick questions to help me assist you better:

Are you having trouble with print quality, colors, or scanning?

What operating system are you using (Windows, macOS, etc.)?

Did you recently update your system or software when this issue started?

Let me know, and I’ll help you get this sorted out!

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

When I go to print a document, my computer screen keeps going black, then flickers back on.  (sometimes two or three times) Then my printer either prints the page with half of it completely black, or does not print at all. And I can not even cancel it out of the queue.

So I looked it up and it seems the source says there may be a problem with my graphic driver.  That is why I was looking for an updated driver,

Is there a different reason for this action?

Thanks Pat

Hi @patliston

Thanks for the extra detail—it really helps paint a clearer picture. That black screen flicker and half-printed page do sound frustrating, almost like your system is blinking under pressure.

While it might seem like a graphics driver issue, this behavior is more commonly tied to a printer driver glitch or system communication issue—especially if your display reacts when you send a print job.

Here’s what I’d suggest:

Uninstall the current HP driver/software from your system completely.

Restart your computer (let it breathe a bit).

Then download and install the latest full-feature driver for the OfficeJet Pro 8610 from the official HP page

If the screen still flickers, then yes, we might want to peek at your graphics driver next. But let’s rule out the printer software first—this is usually the culprit.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

I tried to download the HP drivers for my 8610 from the HP site, but they would not give them to me. It kept sending me to a page to order a new printer.  Luckily, I found my original disk to set up the printer.  With no disk drive on these new computers, it was not easy getting the file to my new computer.  But when I did, I started the setup file, and it reloaded everything.  I have tried printing, and so far, I am no longer getting the flickering, and my queue is no longer locking up.  Time will be the test. Thank you but I do not understand why HP would not let me download the drives.  It prints well and I use it a lot. I would hate to lose it.
