HP OfficeJet Pro 8138e All-in-One Printer

It says that my driver is not installed and to put in a 4-digit pin number to proceed. However, I cannot locate the pin in the print cartridge area. Where can I find the pin?

@Simplythebest11, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

For the HP OfficeJet Pro 8138e All-in-One Printer, if you are prompted to enter a 4-digit PIN, it is likely related to securing a job storage or similar feature. The PIN is usually set by the user during the installation or setup process, particularly when configuring privacy options for stored print jobs.

If you don't remember setting up a PIN or cannot locate it, you can try the following steps:

Check your documentation: Sometimes, the PIN might be recorded in the documentation during setup.

Reset PIN settings: You might need to reset the PIN through the printer interface or software, such as the HP Smart app or HP Embedded Web Server (EWS). This may require you to access the printer’s settings through the control panel or a connected device.

Access the Embedded Web Server (EWS):

  • From the printer, access the Network menu to find the printer’s IP address.
  • Enter this IP address in a web browser on a connected device to access the EWS.
  • Navigate to security settings where you might be able to reset or change the PIN.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
