HP ENVY Inspire 7220e All-in-One Printer

The HP Support site list 2 packages with the same name "HP Easy Start printer installation software" for my HP ENVY Inspire 7220e printer.

They link to:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/EN7200/HPEasyStart-13.6.5-EN7200_55_4_5082_1_Webp...

and:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/HPEasyStart/Win10/HPEasyStart_14_6_6.exe

Since the first link has EN7200 in its path I assume that this package is specifically for the Envy 7200 series. The package size is 212.4 MB versus 11.8 MB for the other one.

The 212.4 MB one has "- Offline Use Only" appended to its caption. So it looks as if this package contains the software to be installed, whereas the 11.8 MB one is an installation package that fetches the proper package from the HP website.

Is this assumption correct and is it safer to download and run 11.8 MB one so it would "automatically" fetch the latest version? Does anybody know? Maybe it is also an idea for HP to add more information on the appropriate page.

Edit:

On the hpdrivers.net website I found that for a number of different printer models there are also 2 downloads, where one of these point to the same URL as the URL to download HP Easy Start for my HP ENVY Inspire 7220e. The description for this download is always:

"HP Easy Start provides guided setup and drivers for your HP printer."

The description for the "Offline Use Only" package is usually something like:

"The full solution software includes everything you need to install and use your HP printer. This collection of software includes the complete set of drivers, installer software, and other administrative tools."

Do you still have a question?

For those reading

True -- there are generally two locations for the Easy Start Software wrapper.

In general, which of the Easy Start software wrappers you use is not as important as whether the version of the Easy Start software recognizes your printer model.  Where offered in the printer's support pages, the version of the Easy Start Software will certainly be adequate for the printer.  The latest version of the Easy Start software is available at the Easy Start Software homepage.

Easy Start Software to Install HP Smart and / or the Full Feature / Full Driver Software

  • Open  Home Page - HP Easy Start >> Click to open Category Software and Drivers
  • Download and Save the current version of the Easy Start Software installation package  to install your print software

Easy Start can be used to install your printer software and / or the HP Smart application.

If you want to install the full driver printer software, choose the "Full Software and Drivers" option during the Easy Start installation procedure.

  • If after the Full Software and Drivers option is selected, the installation terminates (suddenly stops and disappears – never comes back): Open your Downloads folder > Look for and Right-Click on the full Web installation package and “Run as Administrator
