I am trying to setup the printer mentioned in the title. Everything is connected and visible to each other. Managed to print a few test pages but now the printer requires a setup which I can't complete. I get as far as the window that stipulates I use only HP cartridges and then a message comes on that says setup can't be completed and I need to contact support. Support is no help and keep referring back to wifi connectivity. This can't be the case as the test prints worked.
Printing and scanning is now not possible and leaves me with a 200€ white elephant. Please help.
Using chrome OS and the HP smart app.

Hi @mecki007
Welcome to HP Support Community. This is a great place to post questions and find answers.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I see that you are facing issues with setting up your HP LaserJet MFP M140we Printer.
Step 1: Restore the printer to its network defaults:
1. If the printer is in Sleep mode (the Ready light is on but dim), press the Cancel button to wake up the printer.
2. Press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button on the printer control panel for 5 seconds.
Step 2: Reconnect the Printer to the network:
1. Turn on the printer.
2. On the printer control panel, press and hold the Wireless button ((i)) for at least 5 seconds.
3. On the router, press and hold the WPS button for 3 to 5 seconds or until it shows that the WPS connection process has started.
NOTE: The printer stops searching for a WPS connection two minutes after the wireless button is pressed. If you were unable to press the WPS button within that timeframe, attempt these steps again.
4. Once the printer connects to the wireless network, the blue Wireless light on the control panel turns on solid.
Step 3: Add the printer to Chromebook:
1. On the Chromebook, click the clock in the bottom right corner, and then click the Settings icon.
2. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click Advanced.
3. Scroll to the Printing section, click Printers, and then click Add Printer.
- If your printer displays, click it and then click Add.
- If your printer does not display, click Add Manually, and then follow the instructions to add the printer.
Let me know if this works.
Take care and have a good day.
