Windows updates has been known to break printer connections.  Start with an uninstall and reinstall.

If the problem persists then please provide us with more information. Confirm what steps you have already tried and any error messages you are recieving at a minimum.

It seems I'm having to uninstall and reinstall weekly.  I'm using a networked LaserJet 4 Plus on Windows 10 x64.  I've tried using the driver from "Windows Update" and the Windows 8.1/8/7 driver 6.1.7233.0 last updated 6/21/2006

The printer will work fine then start printing gibberish on multiple sheets of paper.  No error messages from Window nor the 4 Plus.  Any suggestions?

Good news! I installed the HP Universal PCL5 print driver (6.1.0.20062) for Windows 8.1/8/7 on Windows 10 and it fixed my printing problems.  The driver even survived yesterday's Windows 10 update without having to be re-installed.

Good for you.  Those old lasers are just about bullet proof.

Hmmm..., wonder if that driver would work for my LJ6P paperweight?  Nothing to lose, right?

I did a quick check and it looks like your LJ6P is PCL6, so I'd go with the HP Universal PCL6 driver, which is available for Windows 10.  Perhaps HP will help us out and update the PCL5 driver to Windows 10.:smileyhappy:

I can't find that on the HP site. Do you have a link?

I found the PCL 5 Universal Driver here:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/UPD/4157320/model/4157320

I changed my operating system from Windows 10 to Windows 8 and then was able to download the PCL5 driver.  I've also used the PCL5 driver on a LaserJet 4M and a LaserJet 1200.  For me the HP drivers work much better than the Windows 10 drivers for HP printers.

I hope this helps.

PERFECT! Thank you, this gave my LJ4+ a new lease on life.

One thing to note about using the HP PCL6 universal driver for laserjet 4/4m plus -   In the device options/properties dialog you have to choose the printer, in this case the 4m plus.  Also, in the advanced tab, you need to go to the printer engine button and change it from the windows engine to the hp engine.  Once I did that, my laserjet 4m plus is working flawlessly with Windows 10.
