Help,
I have had my HP Pro M15w for over 5 years and printing just fine.
I have had my HP laptop for over 3 years and running fine.
I upgraded to windows 11 year ago.
I recently purhased and installed Microsoft 365.
Today I was learning how to use Microsoft ClipChamp that came with my MS 365 to edit videos. I was having a problem getting it to save a copy of my video 1st before working on it, just to be safe. It wouldn't make a copy and MS Support online instructed me to check if I have all the current Windows 11 updates and guided me how to check for them. I don't think I have never checked for system updates. I am novice to computer technology etc
That is when I noticed the following won't install. Keeps saying retry.
"Hewlett-Packard - USB - 6/1/2018 12:00:00 AM - 46.2.2631.18152"
BestBuy Geek Squad recently cleaned up my Windows File Explorer due to multiple Desktop, Documents, PIctures, Movies and Video files duplicated everywhere and in wrong locations. Maybe they messed with one of my HP files in File Explorer?
How do I fix this? Do I need it?
Julie

Hi, Julie:
If the update isn't showing up when you run the Hide Widows update utility, but it did the first time you ran it, eventually the update will go away, after a few days of the normal turning on and shutting down/restarting the PC routine.
Every time you see it in the Windows update app, keep clicking on 'Retry'.
It took one forum member several days and one day the person turned on the PC and the update was gone.
It shouldn't hurt anything but is it an annoying nuisance.

Hi, Julie:
The only suggestion I can offer would be to see this discussion at the link below.
You may have to click on 'Retry' in Windows update several times after you hide the update on W11 and restart the PC.

Paul,
I went through the link you gave me that took me to HP site to the following 2 links:
Windows keeps installing HP USB driver 46.2.2631.18152 - HP Support Community - 8208932
windows update keep installing old hewlett packard printer driver - Microsoft Community
I carefully followed all the steps in the above 2 links
I one of them took me to a site "Windows TenForums" to install the following
How to Hide or Show Windows Updates in Windows 10
I followed all the steps carefully in Show or Hide link
I have restarted my pc and also competely shut down and restarted my pc several times
The problem has not gone away.
What next?
Take it to BestBuy Geek Squad? I am a member. It's where I bought my PC

Paul,
I ran the Show and Hide windows updates again selecting Hide and nothing came back for me to hide.
I ran it again and selected Show and it shows that the HP driver giving me a problem is hidden
So if it is hidden, then why is it showing up as a problem when I do the Windows Update?
I am very novice, but learning and this makes no sense.
I have exhausted everything I have read on how to fix this problem.
Anymore ideas?
Geek squad I guess

Thanks Paul I will keep running windows update and hitting retry and maybe it’ll go away and I did make an appointment tomorrow afternoon at Best Buy. Something else they need to look at. I will have them look at that if it’s still there, too You’ve been very helpful
