I am using the EWS to setup authentication to a windows domain controler.
By going to Settings -> Security -> Access Control and then selecting the 'Setup' link on the row with 'Windows'.
I enter the appropriate windows domain, put in the attributes to use, and when I test the account I get the error:
"The credentials are not valid. Check the user name and password"
However when I look at the logs on the domain controller, there is no login failure. I can see that a kerberos pre-auth token has been successfully issued for that user to the printer. So from a domain controller perspective, the authentication succeeded.
I also ran a packet capture when attempting the test and can see the kerberos AS-REQ and AS-REP but then the printer never talks to the domain controller again after that. I would have either expected the printer to take the AS-REP as a success or expected to see a TGS-REQ or something else happen after the kerberos authentication ticket was issued.
I need assistance getting the printer to successfully connect to the domain controller to authenticate users.

No. It seems that HP Support does't even understand the features of their top end products, which is disappointing since you would think they would want to offer the best support to those people buying their more expensive products.
I never got an answer to this question and no one at HP seems interested in participating in this thread to solve the problem. I guess I'm not a squeaky enough wheel.
