Windows Update keeps trying to install Hewlett-Packard - USB - 58.2.1778.23178 (Install error - 0x800f020b) even though I no longer have the HP printer and I uninstalled the HP software and driver. I don't see any HP devices in Device Manager. How do I properly get it to stop? I don't want any workarounds to hide the update, I want HP to stop trying to install a driver for a printer that is no longer installed. Thank you.

Someone else had this exact same issue but HP did not help and locked the discussion:

After working with Microsoft Support, here is the correct method to completely remove the driver:

1) Press Win + R or search for the Run system app.

2) Enter "printui /s /t2" and press OK.

3) You should see up to 3 HP drivers in the list. Click each one and click Remove. Select Remove Driver and Package.

Done! Windows Update should stop trying to install the driver.

Thanks a lot HP for not completely removing your drivers when we uninstall your app and remove your printers, and for being completely unavailable for support!
