Hi, even before installing the hp envy 7855 software I think I should be able to ping the hp envy 7855 from a networked computer, windows 10 (64), windows XP's. But, no, it fails. All computers and hp envy 7855 are connected to a linksys switch EZXS16W (no wireless capabilities, plain unmanaged switch). The HP envy has a static ip address -192.168.100.100- just invented inside the private ip range, although the linksys is not facing the internet for now. All I did is provide the printer the static ip address, the mask 255.255.255.0 and no gateway. I have turned off and on the printer, the linksys switch, many times, but no recognition by a ping command. Any computer I ping with static ip addresses is OK, the printer not existent. Help ! Thanks.

Hi @peterbur, I am the Mr.Robot. It looks like you were interacting with @Betty0610, but he is out of the office today, so I'll take over from here.
I appreciate your efforts for writing back to us.
As you mentioned the issue still persists after trying out the steps.
Please try the steps recommended below and check if it helps.
Write down the ip address of the computer and the gateway. Example 192.168.1.35 for the computer and 192.168.1.1 for the gateway.
Now print a config page from the printer and see what ip address the printer has when connected to the switch.
If not the same first 3 sets of numbers when connected to the switch the problem is the computer.
Now if the ip address is the same with both connections to the printer that would indicate the printer has a manual ip address and the switch is not in the same frame.
If you change the printer to dhcp or bootp to obtain its ip address that will show you if the switch is not in the same frame as the computer.
Let me know if this helps!
Take Care! 🙂

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂 I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.
Let's restore the Printer's network settings to see if that helps in pinging the Printer to a Computer.
From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch ( Setup ). 2. Touch Network Setup. ENWW Restore original factory defaults and settings 169 3. Touch Restore Network Settings. A message appears stating that the network defaults will be restored. 4. Touch Yes. 5. Print the network configuration page and verify that the network settings have been reset.
Let me know if this helps.

Thank you for the help! I need the HP envy 7855 to print from networked windows 10 (64), and windows XP's. Very important from XP's. I run the HP installation .exe of basic drivers on the XP, and the printer is FOUND! At the very end the installation stops at a white empty screen, I waited 20 minutes, still the empty window, I clicked to close the window, the installation tells me the copy a link to the clipboard before cancelling, I do it, the installation is interrupted and the link does not work to continue afterward. At the XP's printer's control panel I can see the port the installation created, has the same IP as the printed page from the printer, 169.254.56.95, but the XP can not print to the Envy. Thanks.
