I bought a used 5744 printer which I can't use. Error message says i must enroll in Instant Ink. I believe the prior owner may have enrolled under her name. so if the printer is already enrolled, I can't un-enroll under her name. If the printer is not enrolled, I DO NOT want to enroll, then figure out how to un-enroll because I don't want Instant Ink. Is this a scam or what? Is forcing buyers to enroll in your program even legal???

Hi,
You are not forced to enroll to the program.
When you have an Instant Ink Cartridges in your printer, those require an enrollment to the program, not the printer itself, once cancelling the service any ink cartridges provided as part of the service stops working:
HP Instant Ink cartridges do not work after the end of your current billing period, and you are required to return them to HP. To continue printing after your billing cycle ends, make sure you have standard replacement ink cartridges ready to use in your printer.

Go to a nearby store and buy standard cartridges (black and Tri-Color), then you will be able to print without enrolling to any service..
