Hi @bub41,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for reaching out — I know how confusing it can be when your printer suddenly starts printing in the wrong language! If your HP printer is displaying or printing in Spanish instead of English, don’t worry — it’s usually a quick fix with just a few settings.

Let’s walk through a few simple steps to switch everything back to English:

1. Check the Language in the HP Smart App

If you’re using the HP Smart app, the app’s language can sometimes affect the printer’s settings too:

  1. Open the HP Smart app on your PC or mobile.
  2. Click your printer name or image.
  3. Go to Advanced Settings (this opens a web page called the Embedded Web Server).
  4. Look for Settings > Preferences > Language.
  5. Select English, then click Apply or Save.

2. Check Printer Driver Settings in Windows

Sometimes the driver defaults to a different language.

  1. On your computer, open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click your HP printer > choose Printing Preferences.
  3. Look for a Language setting under the Advanced or Features tab.
  4. Change it to English, if available.

3. Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS)

If your printer is connected to Wi-Fi:

  1. Find the IP address from your printer's display (under Network Settings or Wireless Summary).
  2. Type the IP address into a web browser.
  3. This opens the printer’s web interface.
  4. Navigate to Settings > Preferences > Language and choose English.

4. If It’s Still in Spanish – Try a Factory Reset

If none of the above work, you can restore the printer to factory defaults:

  1. On the printer’s control panel, go to:
Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults
  2. Once it resets, you can re-add it using the HP Smart app, which will let you choose English during setup.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
