Trying to print over network. Chromebook sees printer; note underneath printer name says "Not connected to printer." A Brother printer on the network is seen by Chromebook and can be printed to over the network. A Windows 10 computer can print to the HP printer over the network.

Hi @Wally91,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are trying to print from your Chromebook to the HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e All-in-One Printer over the network, follow these steps to resolve the "Not connected to printer" issue:
1. Check Printer Connection
- Ensure the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Chromebook.
- Restart both the printer and the Chromebook to refresh the network connection.
- Make sure your printer is powered on and connected to the network. You can check this on the printer's control panel under "Network" or "Wireless" settings.
2. Update Chromebook and Printer Firmware
- Update your Chromebook:
- Click on the time at the bottom right of your screen.
- Select the "Settings" gear icon.
- Go to "About Chrome OS" and click "Check for updates."
- Update the Printer Firmware:
- Go to the printer's control panel.
- Look for the option to update the firmware, usually found under "Setup" or "Maintenance."
3. Add the Printer on Your Chromebook
- Go to Chromebook Settings:
- Click on the time at the bottom right and then click the "Settings" gear icon.
- Scroll down and click on "Advanced."
- Under "Printing," click "Printers."
- Click "Add Printer."
- Select your HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e from the list. If it appears, click "Add."
- If the printer does not appear, you can manually add it using the printer’s IP address.
4. Manually Add the Printer Using IP Address
- Find the Printer’s IP Address:
- On the printer's control panel, go to "Network" or "Wireless" settings.
- Find the "Network Summary" or "Network Configuration" option, and note the IP address.
- Add Printer by IP:
- On your Chromebook, go to "Settings" > "Advanced" > "Printing" > "Printers."
- Click on "Add Printer" and select "Add manually."
- Enter a name for the printer and the IP address. Use the "IPP" protocol.
- Click "Add."
5. Enable Internet Printing Protocol (IPP)
- Ensure the printer is set to use the IPP protocol. This is often necessary for network printing on Chromebooks.
- On your printer's web interface (you can access this by entering the printer’s IP address in a web browser), ensure that IPP is enabled.
6. Check Firewall and Network Settings
- Ensure that your network firewall or security settings are not blocking communication between your Chromebook and the printer. You might need to adjust settings on your router if this is the case.
7. Test Printing
- After following these steps, try to print a test page from your Chromebook. Ensure that the printer is selected as the default printer in your print dialog.
