I am unable to print today for some unknown reason. I have re-installed the software, used print doctor and still no printing. I can print the quality pages after cleaning. I can print as usual from my wife's computer with the same windows 10 version and installed HP8720 software. I can print from my Android phone. When I attempt to on my laptop print, I get the cycle sound and when I expect the paper to feed there is a pause, and a sheet is fed and it may have the top line of an email or nothing at all. It keeps feeding sheets as if it is retrying. The printer status indicator for the HP8720 then shows an error. I have never experienced anything like this prior to today.

Welcome to HP support community.
Did you uninstall printer driver from root level?
If not , follow the below steps:
Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.
- In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
- Select your HP printer.
- Select Uninstall.
- In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
- In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
- Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
- Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
- Click on Drivers tab.
- Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
- Select OK.
- Remove all instances of the same.
- Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
- Close Devices and Printers.
- Restart the PC again.
Download and install printer full feature driver
Click here to download the driver.
I hope that helps.

Thanks for your reply. I am an experienced PC/windows user with good technical knowledge. I have tried all that you suggested at least 10 times with no success. Additionally, I have cleared cache, removed the printer in the registry and did a system restore that was 10 days prior to my problem. My wife's laptop uses the same HP8720 software and the same Windows Version 1909 (OS Build 18363.657). She has had no problems.
This started several days ago after a year of perfect connection. I can't associate the problem to anything that might have caused the problem. I can print from my wife's laptop, from my android phone and while using the cable connection to the printer.
Very simply, when I go the the 8720 app and try to see even the ink level, it says I have no 2 way connection to the printer. However, when I attempt to print something like an email, The printer cycles like it is getting ready as usual, it then pauses (not normal) and prints the top line of the email (my name with a line under it across the top of the page) and nothing else. Then it pauses and feeds blank pages after several more pauses. This indicates to me that there is at least a partial connection.
With the printer working normally for the other computers, I can only assume there is a problem with something on my laptop. I have also tried SFC /scannow and DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and still no luck.
I would appreciate your thoughts.

This might require remote access of the computer to fix the issue.
I request you to talk to HP support.
They might have multiple options to help you with this.
- Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
- Select the country.
- Enter the serial of your device.
- Select the country from the drop-down.
- Click on "Show Options".
- Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
I hope that helps.

I have contacted the support people and allowed remote access. After an hour of activity, I was advised to contact Comcast about a problem that he saw with the connection. I doubt that this is the problem (since my wife's connection is the same as mine and works perfectly), but will call them anyway. Have case number and extended my warranty so support will continue for at least another year. I continue to use a USB cable an everything works fine, except Print and Scan Doctor 5.3 hangs in this USB configuration at the very end, and does not complete. Also, with the USB connection I can't see the ink levels using the app. even though I can see them on the printer screen.

Try adding the printer using TCP/ IP port -
1. Print a Network Configuration Report from the Printer Settings or Wireless menu.
2. Right-click your printer, select Printer Properties, click the Ports tab and then click Add Port.
3. Select Standard TCP/IP Port, and then click New Port.
4. Follow the instructions to add a new port using the information listed on the Network Configuration Report.
5. Try printing.
Let me know if that works.

I completely removed all instances of HP printers using Revo uninstall and CC Cleaner and 2 other temp file cleaners. I also removed any file folders etc. that I found in the directory. I then re-installed from scratch. I can now communicate and print test pages etc. But...whether via WiFi or USB connection, I can only print once, before the printer hangs (says printing) but does not print anything. I can print test pages and clean cartridges etc with no problem. I can still print just fine from my WiFi on my wife's computer and my phone. Currently I'm using USB and the driver info shows: Device USBPRINT\HPHP_OfficeJet_Pro_8720\7&30385413&0&USB001 requires further installation. This same message occurs when using WiFi. Re-installing the driver over and over again causes the same problem. I'm so close, but can't get around what appears to be a driver problem. When I called support 2 days ago, He was going down the wrong path. I will try again and call today.
