So after way too many hours on the phone with so called printer support, I gave up on them. All they did was read from their scripts ... turn this off, turn this on, reset this.. blah blah blah.
I set my printer ethernet to static IP address 192.168.0.101 then went into my modem setup and within the LAN settings DHCP reservations, assigned the static address 192.168.0.101 to my printer. Ethernet works great.
Really unfortunate so many printer owners were subjected to this problem and couldn't get any help from HP. They push out updates without any regression testing to ensure that all functionality still works. Then we, owners of their products, have to put up with the defective software as nobody at HP support knows anything other than to read from their scripts. So sad...

I also had a new printer sent out to me when support concluded that it was a defective printer.
Unfortunately, the replacement printer had the same problem, unable to connect to Ethernet. Guess when there is a defective software update, we all suffer until HP realizes THEY caused the problem and provide a fixed update to their defective update.

They did the same with me, the replacement printer had the old firmware - all was fine. When they applied the new firmware, it broke the new printer as well. I sent the new printer back and had enough info to convince them the firmware was the issue.
