It can be frustrating when your HP printer doesn’t link properly to your new Dell computer. Let’s troubleshoot step by step to get them connected:

Step 1: Check Printer Connection

  1. Ensure the printer is powered on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Dell computer.
  2. If using a USB connection, confirm the cable is securely attached to both the printer and the computer.

Step 2: Install Printer Drivers

  1. Visit the HP Drivers page and search for your printer model.
  2. Download and install the latest drivers compatible with your Dell computer’s operating system.
  3. Restart your computer after installation.

Step 3: Use the HP Smart App

  1. Download the HP Smart App from the Microsoft Store or HP website.
  2. Open the app and add your printer by following the on-screen instructions.
  3. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your computer for easier detection.

Step 4:  Use HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor from the link below to quickly and automatically perform several troubleshooting tasks known to resolve this issue. 
    When this link is clicked, HP Print and Scan Doctor is downloaded using your Internet browser's download capabilities.

Step 5: Test Printing

  1. Open a document or photo on your Dell computer.
  2. Select Print and choose your HP printer from the list of available devices.
  3. If the printer doesn’t appear, click Add Printer and follow the setup instructions.
