Hi @SSS64
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're having issues with scanning on your HP DeskJet 2135, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:
1. Check Connections
- Ensure the printer is properly connected to your computer (via USB) and that it’s powered on.
2. Update Drivers
- Visit the HP support website and download the latest drivers and software for the DeskJet 2135. Installing the latest software can resolve many issues.
3. Use HP Smart App
- If you haven't already, download the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store or HP’s website. This app provides a straightforward way to scan and manage your printer.
4. Run Windows Troubleshooter
- On your computer, go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot. Run the troubleshooter for printers to detect and fix common issues.
5. Check for Software Conflicts
- Close any other scanning software that might be running, as it can interfere with the scanning process.
6. Check Scanner Settings
- Open the HP Printer Assistant or HP Smart app and check the scanning settings. Ensure the correct settings are selected for your scan (e.g., color, resolution).
7. Reset the Printer
- Power cycle the printer by turning it off, unplugging it for about 60 seconds, and then plugging it back in and turning it on.
8. Check for Errors
- Look at the printer's control panel for any error messages or flashing lights, which may indicate specific issues.
9. Reinstall the Printer
- Remove the printer from your computer (via Control Panel > Devices and Printers), then reinstall it. This can help reset the connection.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
