Hello,
my mother bought a new laserjet mfp m140we. one week ago.
The installation failed at the moment.
First she tryed to add the Printer with Windows 7 to her acer computer windows 7 64 bit.. This did not work.
She asked me for help and I found the esay start exe on HP support webpage.
The installation failed.
A Errormessage on a paper comes out everytime she is pressing the copie button.
It says the setup could not finish. (Easy start finished the setup I thought). She even had the printer in the printerlist of windows and it was connected to the wifi.
But she could not print something.
I live 600 km far from her so I can not pass buy to help soon.
Her problem is now that she can not even use the copie function because everytime she would like to copy something the errormessage is printed and no scan is done.
It worked before shy tryed to do the installation with windows she said.
My idea was now to let her do a factory reset so she can use the copyfunktion while she is waiting for me.
She is not fit enoug to login to EWS with the browser. Is there a possibillity to do a factory reset with the control panel using buttons.
Thank you so much in advance for your help.

Hi @Anni-MFP140,
Welcome to the HP Support Community
I'd like to help!
I understand you are unable to make copies using the printer.
There is no Restore factory defaults on your printer.
Try the below suggestions -
Reset the product
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
- Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
- Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.
Also, try updating the printer's firmware -HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thank you so much for your help.
But the solution did not work for us.
We had still the same problem that the printer stuck in installation mode.
My Mother decided to bring the Printer back to the shop where she bought it,
which was possible.
Wish you a wonderful day
