Hi @momonow123,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP LaserJet MFP M234sdw printer is not recognizing your PC while it does recognize a different one, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot.
Check Connection Method:
- USB Connection: Ensure that the USB cable is securely connected to both your printer and PC. Try using a different USB port on your PC.
- Network Connection: If you're connecting via Wi-Fi or Ethernet, make sure your PC is on the same network as the printer.
Printer Driver:
- Update Driver: Ensure that you have the latest printer driver installed on your PC. You can download the latest driver from the HP website.
- Reinstall Driver: Sometimes reinstalling the printer driver can resolve recognition issues. Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, remove the printer, then reinstall it using the latest driver.
Printer Settings:
- Network Configuration: If using a network connection, make sure the printer’s network settings are correctly configured. Check the printer’s network setup through its control panel or embedded web server.
Windows Settings:
- Add Printer: Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners, click on Add a printer or scanner, and see if your printer appears in the list. If not, try selecting The printer that I want isn't listed and follow the prompts.
Printer Status:
- Restart Devices: Restart both your PC and the printer.
- Check Printer Status: Make sure the printer is turned on and not displaying any error messages.
Troubleshooting Tools:
- HP Smart App: Use the HP Smart app to troubleshoot and set up your printer. It often provides additional diagnostic tools.
Compatibility:
- Ensure that your PC’s operating system is compatible with the printer’s driver.
If you’re having trouble with changing to jet ink, you might need to check the following:
- Ink Cartridges: Make sure you’re using the correct ink cartridges for your printer model.
- Installation: Follow the instructions provided with the new ink cartridges for proper installation.
- Printer Settings: Some printers have settings for managing ink types; check the printer’s control panel or software for these settings.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
