@IRJake13 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are getting the "No Computer Found" error indicates that the connection between your HP OfficeJet 6958 printer and your computer is not being recognized. Here are steps to resolve this issue:

1. Ensure Printer and Computer Are Connected

  • Check the connection type:
    • Wireless connection: Make sure both the printer and computer are on the same WiFi network.
    • USB connection: Ensure the cable is securely plugged in and recognized by the computer.
  • Use the printer's control panel to confirm network status:
    • On the printer's Settings menu, select Network Setup > Wireless Settings to ensure it's connected to the correct network.

2. Enable Scan to Computer in HP Software

  1. Open the HP Smart app or the HP Printer Assistant on your computer.
  2. Go to Scan Settings or Manage Scan to Computer.
  3. Enable Scan to Computer if it is not already turned on.
  4. Ensure the option for "Automatically Restart Scan to Computer" is checked, so it remains active after restarting.

3. Update Drivers and Software

  • Download the latest drivers from the HP Support Website.
    • Enter your printer model: "HP OfficeJet 6958".
    • Download and install the Full Feature Software and Driver for your operating system.
  • Restart your computer and printer after installation.

4. Troubleshoot the HP Smart App

  • If you're using the HP Smart app:
    1. Uninstall and reinstall the HP Smart app.
    2. Re-add the printer to the app and check scanning functionality.

5. Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor:
    • This tool can automatically detect and fix connectivity and scanning issues.

6. Check Windows Firewall and Antivirus Settings

  • Ensure your firewall or antivirus software is not blocking the communication between your printer and computer:
    • Add the HP software and printer as exceptions in the firewall/antivirus settings.

7. Test Scanning Another Way

  • Try scanning from the Windows Fax and Scan tool:
    1. Search for and open "Windows Fax and Scan" on your computer.
    2. Click New Scan and see if it detects the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
