HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Printer

Hello,

I'm having an issue with my printer not printing as expected. It can print configurations and perform wireless setups directly from the printer, but when I try to send a document, it won't print. I've also attempted to copy a document, but that doesn't work either. I downloaded the Easy Start app and connected to the printer, but I still can't print the test page.

Additionally, I cannot perform a test scan. There are no issues with the internet, and I've updated everything. I have already conducted both a factory reset and a semi-full reset, but nothing seems to help.

I've tried several devices, including a Mac, iPads, Windows computers, and Android devices—none of them are successful.

Please help.

Thank you!

@sean230, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand how frustrating it must be when your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 isn't printing, copying, or scanning even though it's connected and can print configuration pages. You've already done a great job trying resets and testing across multiple devices.

Let’s walk through a few targeted steps to help resolve this issue:

Check Printer Hardware Functionality

Since copying doesn't work either, this suggests a possible hardware or firmware issue.

  • Try this: Disconnect the power cable while the printer is ON.
  • Wait 60 seconds, then plug it back in and power it up.
  • Try copying a document directly from the printer again.

If copying still fails, the issue may be internal (scanner or printhead).

Update Printer Firmware

Even if you've updated software, the firmware might still be outdated.

Follow the instructions to install it via USB or network.

Uninstall and Reinstall Printer Drivers

Corrupted drivers can cause communication issues.

For Windows:

  1. Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click your printer > Remove device.
  3. Download - Official HP® Support

For macOS:

  1. Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Select your printer and click the minus (-) button to remove it.
  3. Reinstall

Run Printhead Cleaning

If the printer is responsive but not printing, the printhead may be clogged.

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to:
Setup > Printer Maintenance > Clean Printhead

Repeat the cleaning cycle up to 3 times if needed.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
