Hi @zanzac,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

The red light on the three dots icon on your HP DeskJet 2720e typically indicates an issue with the tri-color ink cartridge or a general cartridge error. Here's how to troubleshoot it:

1. Check Ink Levels

  • Open the HP Smart app on your phone or PC
  • Check the tri-color cartridge ink level

2. Reseat the Cartridge

  1. Open the printer cover
  2. Gently remove the tri-color cartridge (left slot)
  3. Check for any protective tape still on the cartridge (if new)
  4. Reinsert it firmly until it clicks into place

3. Clean the Cartridge Contacts

  • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water
  • Gently clean the copper contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer
  • Let it dry and reinstall

4. Try a Different Cartridge

If the issue persists, the cartridge may be defective. Try replacing it with a new genuine HP tri-color cartridge.

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
