Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are getting the error "Default, Attention Required" message on your HP OfficeJet 3830 printer usually indicates that the printer needs your attention due to a configuration issue, driver problem, or a connectivity issue.
Here are some steps to help you troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
1. Check Printer Status & Error Messages
- Make sure there are no error messages or warning lights on the printer itself. If you see any, check what they indicate.
- Ensure the printer has paper loaded correctly, no paper jams, and all ink cartridges are properly installed.
2. Set Printer as Default
- Go to Settings → Devices → Printers & scanners in Windows 11.
- Click on your HP OfficeJet 3830.
- Click on Manage, then select Set as default.
- Make sure the printer is not paused or set to “Use Printer Offline.”
3. Update Printer Driver
- Go to Device Manager (right-click the Start button and choose Device Manager).
- Expand the Printers section, find your HP OfficeJet 3830, right-click, and choose Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers. If an update is available, install it.
- You can also visit the HP Support page to download the latest driver for your printer.
4. Clear Print Queue
- Open Control Panel → Devices and Printers.
- Right-click your HP printer and select See what's printing.
- If there are any stuck print jobs, click on Printer in the menu and select Cancel All Documents.
