Thank you for the help.  The only prior info I had found on the web site was that the ON/OFF button was on the front or top.  I never looked in the back.   Thanks for your kindness in providing the link to a specific manual which I have now saved locally, because I have not had one since starting with this printer 2 years ago.  I am a retired laboratory instrument tech, and frequently had to refer clients to RTFM!

Your are welcome.

You are not the first one to miss this -- Another member asked, "Well, what is the power button doing back there?"

I suspect were we to open the machine and peer inside, the layout would make more sense.  ?

There is a lot of information at the product home page -- the user manual is a key ingredient, of course.

Come back if you need clues to unravel a new mystery.

Shame on me for not checking in the back, where the mains are connected.  The instruments that I was a field tech for, were manufactured in Switzerland, and they all had their main ON/OFF switch (usually a rocker switch, but whatever) in the back just above the power cord entry port.

Nothing you can do now, but.... my printer is having intermittent issues "finding" and connecting to my in-home WiFi.  Nothing has changed about the WiFi, but when the issues first began a couple of weeks ago, I moved the printer to a different room, and much closer to the WiFi.  Since it's intermittent, I am currently (tongue in cheek) blaming the solar flare/magnetic storm outburst.  If the problem isn't that, maybe the WiFi "radio" unit within the printer is developing its own problem.

Thanks again for your activity on this board, and in my thread.

If your wifi infrastructure is newer, it could be a compatibility issues between the printer and the router. Newer hardware uses a 5Ghz standard that is not fully supported by all printers, many of which use an older 5Ghz chipset. Good option to try is to configure the 2.4Ghz on the router to a unique SSID and only let the printer connect to that and see if that improves performance any.

Thanks for this suggestion.  The same printer and WiFi router have been working well together for 2 years.  The recent intermittent failure to connect remains a mystery as nothing has changed.  If the problem returns, this is the first thing that I will do.  I will then need to refer to my recently downloaded user manual to figure out how to tell the printer to go to the 2.4GHz side of the router.
