HP ENVY 4520 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

My Envy 4520 is no longer printing from the PC. This morning the printer was "offline" which has happened before and has been resolved by ticking the "Print offline " in one of the settings boxes. This morning although the laptop thought it was putting documents into the print queue nothing was being printed. I tried turning everything off and restarting the router, laptop and printer then removing the Wifi information and reconnecting from scratch. Everything connected but no improvements. I tried reloading print drivers and now nothing shows and the laptop can't find the printer - ANy ideas where to go from here ???

Hi @3vans,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you’ve tried many of the common troubleshooting steps already. Here’s a more detailed approach to resolving the issue with your HP Envy 4520.

Check Printer Status and Connectivity

  • Power Cycle: Make sure the printer is fully powered off for a minute and then powered back on.
  • Network Connection: Verify that the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network. You can check this on the printer’s display under the network settings.

Ensure Printer is Set as Default

  • On your PC, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click on your HP Envy 4520 and select Set as default printer.

Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers

  • Go to HP’s official website and download the latest drivers for the HP Envy 4520.
  • Uninstall the existing drivers from your PC by going to Control Panel > Programs and Features and finding any HP-related software. Uninstall it.
  • Install the latest drivers you downloaded.

Check Printer Queue

  • Open the Devices and Printers window.
  • Right-click on the HP Envy 4520 and select See what’s printing.
  • Make sure there are no stuck print jobs. If there are, cancel them.

Re-add Printer

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
  • Click Add a printer or scanner and wait for your PC to detect the printer.
  • If it doesn’t show up, click on The printer that I want isn’t listed and follow the prompts to add it manually.

Run Windows Troubleshooter

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
  • Select Printer and run the troubleshooter. Follow any recommended steps.

Check for Printer Firmware Updates

  • Sometimes, the printer might need a firmware update to resolve connectivity issues. Check HP’s support site for any firmware updates for the Envy 4520.

Network Configuration Check

  • Ensure that your router hasn’t blocked the printer or the printer’s IP address. Sometimes, network settings can change.

Firewall/Security Software

  • Check if your firewall or security software is blocking the connection between your PC and the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
