Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

I know my printer is old. HP Envy 5055. But it still works. However, we have a new ISP and the WiFi password has an apostrophe. There isn’t an option for an apostrophe when typing in the password. I don’t want to have to change the password on all of my other devices just to get this printer to connect. Is there ANY other way I can get it to connect. (Also note I do not have the wps button or whatever that thing is called). If I got a cable to connect it to the computer could I get it set up that way where it would save the password?

Hi @Maeben ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your printer does not support special characters like apostrophes in the Wi-Fi password and there is no option to enter them, you might need to find a workaround. Here are a few suggestions:

Use an Alternate Network: If possible, set up a guest network with a password that does not include special characters. Connect the printer to this network temporarily to complete the setup. Once the printer is connected, you can switch it back to your main network.

Temporary Network Change: Temporarily change the Wi-Fi password on your main network to one without special characters, connect the printer, and then change the password back.

Connect via USB: If your printer has a USB port and supports a wired connection to a computer, you can connect the printer to your computer using a USB cable. Follow the printer setup process on your computer, and during the setup, you might be prompted to enter the Wi-Fi details. Once set up, you can disconnect the USB cable.

Mobile Hotspot: Create a temporary mobile hotspot on a smartphone with a simple password (without special characters). Connect the printer to this hotspot during the setup process and then switch back to your home network.

Remember to check your printer's manual or support documentation for any specific instructions related to network setup.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-
