Sorry, correction. My Wifi list on my iPhone does show the HP Wifi option called DIRECT-cb-HP M29 LaserJet, but it is password protected and I do not know the password.

I changed Internet Service Providers and Wireless routers. The printer is still configured to connect to my old Wifi network. How to I get it to reconnect to my new Wifi network?

Hi @RumrunnerME

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're having trouble connecting your HP LaserJet MFP M29w to Wi-Fi both from your Windows 11 computer and the HP Smart app on iOS. This could be caused by a few different issues, but I'll walk you through the most common solutions to get your printer connected to your Wi-Fi network.

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting for Wi-Fi Connection Issues:

1. Check Printer's Wi-Fi Setup Mode

The first thing to check is if the printer is in Wi-Fi setup mode, which makes it easier to connect to your network.

  1. Power on your HP LaserJet MFP M29w printer.
  2. On the printer control panel, press and hold the Wi-Fi button (the one with the wireless signal icon) for about 5 seconds until the Wi-Fi light starts blinking. This means the printer is in Wi-Fi setup mode and ready to be connected to your network.

2. Connect the Printer to Wi-Fi Using HP Smart App (iOS)

Now, try connecting via the HP Smart App on your iPhone:

  1. Ensure your iPhone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network that you want your printer to join.
  2. Open the HP Smart app on your iPhone.
  3. If the app doesn’t detect the printer automatically, tap on the plus icon (+) to add a new device.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect your printer to the network.
    • The app should prompt you to choose your printer and then guide you through selecting the Wi-Fi network you want to connect to.
    • If your printer's Wi-Fi doesn't show up, ensure that you're in Wi-Fi setup mode as mentioned above and that your router is working properly.

3. Manually Connect the Printer to Your Wi-Fi Network (Wi-Fi Direct)

If the above doesn’t work, you can try manually connecting the printer to your Wi-Fi using the Wi-Fi Direct feature.

  1. Locate the Wi-Fi Direct button on the printer's control panel. Press and hold it until the Wi-Fi Direct light starts blinking.
  2. On your iPhone, go to Wi-Fi settings and look for the network name starting with "DIRECT-" followed by a random string (e.g., DIRECT-HP LaserJet M29w).
  3. Connect to that Wi-Fi Direct network.
  4. Once connected, open the HP Smart app on your iPhone and select the printer. The app should now allow you to connect the printer to your actual Wi-Fi network.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
