It sounds like your HP Envy 6400 printer is having trouble establishing a Wi-Fi connection.
Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:
Reset Network Settings:
- On the printer, press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button simultaneously until the Wireless light starts blinking. This will reset the network settings.
Reconnect Using the HP Smart App:
- Download the HP Smart app on your computer or smartphone if you haven't already.
- Open the app and select "Set up a new printer."
- Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
Ensure Compatibility:
- Make sure your Wi-Fi network is set to the 2.4 GHz band, as some HP printers do not support 5 GHz networks.
- Verify that your network uses WPA or WPA2 security (open networks or WEP security may not work).
Move Closer to the Router:
- Place the printer within 6-8 feet of your Wi-Fi router to ensure a strong signal during setup.
Update Firmware:
- Check for firmware updates for your printer using the HP Smart app or the HP Support website. Updating the firmware can resolve connectivity issues.
Restart Devices:
- Turn off your printer, router, and computer. Wait for about 30 seconds, then turn them back on.
