HP DeskJet 3630
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

My EE modem conked out and I have just replaced it with a new one (different password only).  Since doing so my printer has ceased to work although all cables etc. are as before.  HP Print Doctor hasn't helped, saying only that my printer is offline but nothing beyond that.  I have tried uninstalling the printer and now cannot seem to re-install it.   I have HP Print Doctor  and HP Smart  installed but am stuck with what to do now.  Help!

@BrianJoyce

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Let's restore the network settings on the Printer: Press the Wireless button ( ) and the Cancel button ( ) from the printer control panel at the same time, and then hold them for three seconds.

Once done, connect the Printer back to the Wi-Fi.

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks for your attention.  I did as suggested but no difference.  The printer does work well when connected to the Pc by cable but surely it should not need that for wireless working?  Also, when I run a Print command I get two choices of printer showing on the screen (HP DeskJet 3630 series  and HP DeskJet 3630 series (Network).   Both seem to work but, again, only when cable attached.  Am I looking for the wrong things?  And what did you mean by connect the Printer back to the Wi-Fi?  What connection is involved?  And, as I am subscribing to HP Ink, doesn't that need wireless connection?

Sorry to be so dumb but I do get a bit lost at times!

Are you using the HP Smart App on your PC? If not, you may try and install to see if that works: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04675142. If yes, uninstall and reinstall it.

If the issue persists, try these steps:

Let's run the HP Print and Scan Doctor:

Use this link for details on using the HP Print and Scan doctor: https://hp.care/2JyaC93

If the issue still persists, let's do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:

Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.)  Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

15.) Restart the computer.

Once done, please download and install the software from here:

Thanks for all that.  I'm not sure what I did to solve things but everything seems OK now, even before your latest message arrived.  Whatever, I am happy with things as they now stand and simply await my next HP Ink bill and or replacement cartridge to confirm the online state.
