I’ve had a HP Desk jet 3630 series printer from my granddaughter. Trying to connect to Wy-Fi and it’s asking me for a password for this product. How do I get a password?

Hi @Ray1042,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP DeskJet 3630 All-in-One Printer to Wi-Fi, you'll need the Wi-Fi network password rather than a password specific to the printer itself.

Here’s how you can find and enter the necessary Wi-Fi password:

Steps to Connect Your Printer to Wi-Fi

Find Your Wi-Fi Password:

  • Check Your Router: Often, the default Wi-Fi password is printed on a label on the router itself.
  • Use a Device Connected to the Wi-Fi: You can check the Wi-Fi password on a device (like a computer or smartphone) already connected to the network:
    • Windows:
      • Open Settings > Network & Internet > Status.
      • Click on Network and Sharing Center.
      • Click on your Wi-Fi network name.
      • Click on Wireless Properties > Security tab, and check Show characters to reveal the password.
    • Mac:
      • Open System Preferences > Network.
      • Select Wi-Fi and then click on Advanced.
      • Find your network name, and you can view the password if you check the box for Show password (you may need to enter your Mac’s admin password).

Prepare the Printer:

  • Ensure that your printer is turned on and in a ready state.

Connect the Printer to Wi-Fi:

  • On the printer control panel, navigate to the Setup menu (the gear icon).
  • Select Network or Wireless Settings.
  • Choose Wireless Setup Wizard. The printer will search for available networks.
  • Select your Wi-Fi network from the list.
  • Enter the Wi-Fi password when prompted, and confirm.

Install the HP Smart App (optional but recommended):

  • Download the HP Smart App from the Microsoft Store, Apple App Store, or HP's website.
  • Open the app and follow the prompts to add your printer. It will guide you through the connection process.

I hope this helps.
