We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

My school district will not allow me to connect to the district Internet now. Is there a way to connect directly to the printer from the computer to avoid having Internet. I cannot find anything besides a micro disk port. I am OK not using instant ink.

Your printer supports Wi-Fi direct.  You probably need to reset it to get rid of the router ID

Watch the reset video. After resetting, you generally have 2 hours to complete the setup. Decide if you want to connect the printer to the router or to print directly to the printer and bypass the router.

Many HP and other OEM printers have problems with the router when the router has two bands and both bands have the same name (SSID). Log into the modem and rename one of the bands. Alternately, contact your ISP and have them rename a band.

Or simply use Wi-Fi direct.

If English is not your native language or if you wish to get additional information not covered below, then use the HP and Microsoft support assistants. The latest HPSA supports 36 languages and can be downloaded here. Microsoft's AI assistant is in the latest Windows 10 and 11 releases and there are instructions here on how to enable the AI. Microsoft's AI assistant (Copilot) has a microphone button and supports natural language processing.

For Wi-Fi direct setup see page 59 click here.
This is useful if you do not have access to the router or you want to bypass the router and print directly to the printer.

Reset instructions from a post on Reddit

Connect the HP Envy 5660 printer to a reliable power source and turn it on. Open the Control Panel Settings menu and scroll down to the bottom of the page.

Expand the Support category and go to the Resets menu by navigating to the right. Select the Recovery Manager/Device manager tab. The Recovery Manager tab displays a list that comprises three options.

How to Restore HP Envy 5660 Printer to Factory Settings – They are System Recovery, Factory Reset, and Minimized Image Recovery. Touch the Factory Reset option and the printer displays a warning message stating Are you sure? Yes, No, or Cancel.

Tap Yes and the printer displays three types of factory reset process. They are “Partial, Semi, and Full Reset”. Proceed with the forthcoming steps to perform the aforementioned reset types.

The first method is partial reset that refreshes the printer and clears out unwanted memory from it. This method fixes minor printing issues, slow printing, and ink cartridge errors.

Power off the printer, disconnect and reconnect the power cable, and then turn on the printer again. “Tap # and 3” together on the printer’s keypad.

The screen turns black and the reset process initiates. Wait for few minutes and the printer restarts after the reset completes. The Semi reset clears all the custom settings from your printer.

Let me know if you have a flex system (Wi-Fi boosters or repeaters) as the setup is much more complicated for routers.
