My Officejet Pro 8720 'was' connected to the internet wireless.  Now I have connected it directly to my computer via ethernet and I'm getting Connection Problem.  I power cycled the modem, router and the printer.  Same problem.

Web services could not be set up.  Error Message HP Instant Ink Status - Cannot print. Connect printer to update HP instant ink status.  It just continues to do an infinite loop.  Help please.  Ty

It is never going to work the way you describe --

The Ethernet cable is meant to be connected with one end of the cable connected to the printer Ethernet port and the other end of the Ethernet cable connected to a working port in the router.

After get the printer connected to the network,

Consider using the Embedded Web Server (EWS) to check / adjust supported options.

EWS > HP Document / How-to

Use the HP printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)

Examples

Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Network > Wired (802.3) > IPv4 Configuration

Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Network > Wireless (802.11) > IPv4 Configuration

And – Model Dependent

Tab Network > Wireless (802.11) > Advanced

In Advanced

Having named SSID / networks separately for each bandwidth at the router level,

Select and connect to the correct SSID / network name for the bandwidth you are using.
