Common problems for Connectivity Issues

My father's HP DeskJet Plus 4100 recently stopped communicating with his laptop. The WIFI light was flashing. When I tried to look at the printer from the laptop, it shows Offline. I held down the WIFI button and pushed the WPS button on my router. It eventually connected and shows a blue solid light. HP Smart app and Windows still show the printer as offline. I made the mistake of uninstalling the printer from Windows, as it used to be simple to reinstall a printer.  I tried reinstalling the printer, but it tells me the PIN is invalid, wants me to use setup cartridges.  I don't know how to bypass the stupid cartridges or the PIN. Please help before I throw this thing out the window and burn everything with "HP" on it.
