After changing my internet provider, with new modem settings I'm having trouble on adjusting wifi settings in my printer.
On windows, in HP smart application, I'm trying to set it up but I've got this page saying  “A custom password has been set for your printer. Enter the password to access the printer web interface.” and I have no idea what this password is. I don't remember setting a password like this. So help needed

@mhkndo, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Refer printer's User manual for printer specific steps.

1. Reset the Printer’s Network Settings

  • Turn off your printer.
  • Press and hold the Wi-Fi button on the printer.
  • While holding the Wi-Fi button, turn the printer back on.
  • Keep holding the Wi-Fi button until the light blinks quickly, indicating that the network settings have been reset.

This clears any old Wi-Fi credentials, allowing you to reconfigure the printer for the new network.

2. Reconfigure Printer Wi-Fi Setup

  • Press the Wi-Fi button on the printer again (it should blink rapidly if it’s not already connected).
  • Use the printer’s control panel to reconnect it to your new Wi-Fi.

Alternatively, you can use the HP Smart app or the printer's web-based setup page (accessed via the printer's IP address) to connect the printer to Wi-Fi.

3. Check Your Router’s Compatibility

  • Ensure that the Wi-Fi network is using the 2.4 GHz frequency, as the printer may not be compatible with 5 GHz networks.
  • If your new router is dual band (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), make sure the printer is connecting to the correct band.

Unfortunately No, this doesn't fix the problem. It's on the same page.
Tried steps 1 & 2 with router in 2.4 Ghz in windows hp smart app. I've found the printer in install page, but when I click install it says couldn't connect to printer.

Hey @mhkndo,

Thank you for your response

I suggest you try the following steps:

Run the HP Printer Troubleshooter on Windows

Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.

Select Printer and run the troubleshooter.

Uninstall and Reinstall HP Smart App

Uninstall the HP Smart app.

Restart your computer and reinstall the app from the Microsoft Store.

Check Router Settings

Make sure the printer is connected to the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network (not 5 GHz).

Assign a static IP to the printer in your router settings (optional).

Perform a Factory Reset

Kindly refer to this guide: Restore factory defaults on your HP printer | HP® Support

I hope this helps.
