I recently got an upgraded router from my broadband supplier (Vodafone) After quite a few problems getting it working, I started trying to connect my devices. All were fine except a very old PC and my 2710e printer. When trying to connect via was, nothing happens. When trying to connect via HP Smart (both mobile app and pc app), I get an error when the software tries to pass the password on and connect the printer to the WiFi. It says "an unexpected error has occurred " I printed out the network config and the printer can see the available networks. After many attempts, I reverted back to my old router and now the printer won't connect to that either and I get the same issues and errors.
I have done the WiFi and X buttons multiple times.
Any ideas?

Hi @NobbyUK, Welcome to HP Support Community! 👋
Upgrading routers can sometimes feel like opening Pandora's Box, especially when our trusty gadgets decide to throw a tantrum. It sounds like your DeskJet 2710e is staging a full-on rebellion against your new (and old!) routers.
First off, let's make sure we're not dealing with a case of mistaken identity. Sometimes, routers with dual-band capabilities (2.4GHz and 5GHz) get a bit cheeky and share the same name (SSID), which can confuse our printers.
Now, for the fun part – troubleshooting!🛠️ Since you've already tried the Wireless and Cancel button combo (the classic "Ctrl+Alt+Delete" for printers, right?), let's dive a little deeper.
Here are a few ideas to try:
Power Cycle: Give your printer, router, and PC a good ol' power nap. Unplug them for a minute, then plug them back in. It's like a spa day for your tech!
Proximity Check: Is your printer close enough to the router? Sometimes, a little extra distance can cause connection chaos.
HP Smart App: Since the HP Smart app is giving you the "unexpected error" message, try the following:
>Make sure your HP Smart app is up to date.
>Uninstall and reinstall the HP Smart app.
Wi-Fi Direct Connection:
>Select your printer with "DIRECT" in the name from the list of available networks (example: DIRECT-74-HP Deskjet2700).
>If prompted for a password, type 12345678 (this is the default password).
>Open a browser and type 192.168.223.1.
>Go to wireless and select wireless setup wizard.
>Select your network and type in the password.
>If the printer is connected, the light will turn solid blue.
>Reconnect your phone back to your network.
Default Network Settings: Restore the network settings to default:
Press and hold the Wireless button🛜 and the Cancel button❌ from the printer control panel together for three seconds.
Firmware Update: Updating the printer's firmware may solve the problem.
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution. We hope our assistance has been helpful!
Take care, and have an amazing day!😊

Hi. Thanks for your response on this. I had tried everything on the list except connecting via the browser. Running the WiFi wizard fixed the problem and allowed me to connect to the router ( both new and old)
