HP LaserJet P1102w
macOS 11.0 Big Sur

My MacBook Air (OS Big Sur) is connected to HP LaserJet P1102w with a USB and is not printing.

Communication between printer and computer states that data is sending to the printer and the printer is printing and the printing is complete. However, no printing is happening.

Questions:

1) How can I make my printer start printing?

@RobinPearce

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Ensure that the printer is up to date with its firmware and Mac is up to date with its software. If you are unsure you may use the links below to update the printer firmware and Mac software:

Update printer firmware

Update software on Mac

Let's setup the Printer with the MAC again with USB: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_2026111-1786193-16

Try to print.

Thanks for offering this suggestion. I tried it out but I was unsuccessful.

My printer (HP LaserJet P1102w) does not have firmware to update.

When I went through the steps to add the printer, my printer's name was not among the Drivers I could select. I've provided some screenshots.

My MacBook Air does not have a USB port, so I am using a docking station which might not supply the printer with enough power.

Is it possible that my printer is too old to update?

There is no firmware update currently for this Printer.

Were you able to print before well?

Yes. I was able to print well before through a wireless connection. I installed a wifi extender, and that seemed to interrupt the settings. I have been trying to reconnect the printer to the computer using USB, but am having no luck with my trials.

Let's remove and add the printer:

Remove and add the printer

Click the Apple menu, and then select System Preferences.

Depending on your operating system version, click Print & Fax, Print & Scan, or Printers & Scanners.

Click the name of your printer, click the Minus sign and then delete the printer.
