After upgrading my printer to latest firmware (20200714) i can no longer connect to my Wi-Fi. Worked fine before the upgrade but now it complains about the passphrase. I've done a factory restore but that didn't help. The only thing that works is if i remove the password from the wifi, then it can connect. There are other people with the same problem so there seems to be an issue with this firmware. I wanted to downgrade but i'm not able to find an older firmware upgrade file unfortunately. Please help.

I managed to find an older firmware and downgraded to it. Now I can connect to the wifi with password.

I have the same problem after upgrading to the latest firmware (20200714). I can connect through  wifi to the printer only by removing the password, but even then, the connection is very unstable. I don't understand the reason why. Practically I can not properly use the printer anymore. This is amazing! I want to downgrade, but I don't have the previous firmware version. On HP support site I can not find older versions. This is even more amazing. After all these years of good use, I have transformed my printer into a brick. The printer is not close to all the computers needing it.
The main update, according to HP LaserJet Pro M425 Series Firmware Enhancements and Fix List for Datecode 20200714 is

  • Network component update

Definitely something is wrong.
Since July 2020, a lot of time has passed and nothing has happened. I really need help.

Seems when I post the link the post gets deleted.. 😕 But if you search for HP_LaserJet_M425_MFP_Series_FW_Update_20180205.exe on google it’s the 4th result pointing to eeb.lu.lv with a little green tree on the side. There it’s the top file.

Hi guys,

I appear to also have the same issue! My printer tried or did an update yesterday and after spending 6 hours trying to resolve this, i still have a half functioning printer that refuses to connect to my wifi. I tried to change the router settings, changed the passwords, split the frequency ect, nothing worked and it would not connect to home wifi...

If you download the eprint Jet advantage driver it allows you to print but it is very long winded and you have no other function like scanning. It will allow you to connect to the printers own wifi to print.

Has anyone had any luck with a solution?

You need to downgrade the firmware, that is install an older version. If you check my post above you'll see which file that worked for me. Unfortunately i wasn't allowed to post a link to the file so instead i wrote the instructions to where to find it.

Hi all,

I called HP and explained the situation and explained I have tried everything possible... long story cut short, they put the firmware back to the previous version and my internet connected perfectly!

[content removed] It took me a while to find this but definitely worth a call if you want the official HP software. Hope this helps.
