Common problems for Connectivity Issues

Hi there - no problems with this printer for months and now suddenly it will no longer stay connected to wifi. The only way to get it to print is to unplug it, it briefly connects when it comes back on but within a few minutes the signal is off and it is showing the ! mark. Also the factory reset sequence of pressing the wifi symbol and the x simultaneously doesn't work. Is this a mechanical fault?

I've tried removing the printer altogether and re-adding it, but it won't allow me to do that as I'm an instant ink and instant paper subscriber (aka I'm a good customer pls help me). If I have to do this I will but I'd rather not have to go through cancelling and setting up my instant ink account if I can help it.

Any advice appreciated.

Hi @captjaneway4,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I see that you are facing intermittent wi-fi connectivity issues with your HP LaserJet MFP M140w Printer.

I suggest that you follow the steps listed below to update the firmware from HP Smart App.

1. Go to 123.hp.com (Android, Apple iOS, iPad OS), or HP Smart - Microsoft Store (Windows), or HP Smart - Mac App Store (Mac) (if not installed).

2. After completing the printer setup, click or tap on the printer’s name.

NOTE: Menu names, locations, and available settings vary by printer model.

3. Under Advanced, select Printer Home Page (EWS) or Advanced Settings.

4. Click or tap Tools or Web Services.

5. Click or tap Printer Updates or Product Update, and then click or tap Check Now.
