I have InstaInk subsription and it was able to disable "All Firmware Updates" (screenshot attached) and it did not indicate anywhere that my InstaInk subscription would be cancelled. I will not attempt to explain that but that its been a couple hours now and the download problem has not returned yet at least.

Same for me. I had called HP 2 days ago and they had me remove and re-add the printer in HP Smart and power cycle. It was fine for awhile then the same problem occurred. I googled and found this thread. I was able to remove the setting and I have instant ink as well.

I don't know if anyone else had the problem just fix itself, but mid afternoon on Tuesday, 8/22, my printer, unprovoked, began to cycle and it made an update on it's own. Not sure what the problem was, but apparently the download was fixed. I have not had the problem since 8/22.

Hi Everyone, I got lucky and solved my 'unable to download' issue. (see my previous comments). I use Wi-Fi to connect my printer to my 'MAC' and other devices (no Windows) and never did an ink subscription. I buy my cartridges at Costco or on Ebay. I wish you good luck.

Congratulations! I looked into our issue with Apple and they assured me there is not an issue with running OSX Ventura 13.5 (and I just updated to the latest - OSX Ventrura 13.51) interfacing properly with the HGP 9010 and 9020 series printers. I've also been waiting for some feedback from HP's P/CEO or whomever he or his assistant routed my email to for assessment (not9ing yet - but maybe someone found an issue and quietly fixed it - says the dreamer).
I was about to pursue your approach (after first cancelling my inkjet subscription), but waited for some additional days to see what others had to say. In that time, the entire problem just stopped happening! Don't know why, other than perhaps I began shutting down the printer each evening vs. just letting it sleep overnight. So for now, I'm going to proceed with daily shut downs and monitoring.
So thank you very much for your thoughts and report of success. I hope your solution holds.

Additional note: I checked the last update date and update number on my now working printer. It is from last March and the number is the same as it was before the update fiasco. So, I do believe that HP withdrew the update.

Thanks bgellisshapiro for your note about HP withdrawing the update that could well have been the cause of all the problems that many of have had with this issue. I suspect we will never know the truth about this one.
