Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Just had fiber installed a week ago to house, replacing DSL, yet not able to connect the printer to wireless network.

I have 3 other computers that are able to connect to new wireless fiber modem with the same settings unchanged.
(installer set new fiber modem w/ same settings as DSL modem it replaced)

The printer is a HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus & the new fiber modem is a BGW320-505.

I'm following the printer's Wireless Setup Wizard. I get all the way to printer finding the network SSID correctly & Wizard then asking for password key printed on modem. After entering password key as accurately as possible, the Wizard says it's not correct & can't connect to the modem.

I have tried the Wizard several times, including moving the printer within 10 ft of the modem, to ensure it's not a weak signal problem. Yet I get the same result each time.

I have 2 computers networked to modem & have verified the network password key on both these match that shown on the modem AT&T marking sticker.

Could I get help connecting my printer please? Thank you!

I struggled trying to make a separate SSID for the printer & gave up,  didn't want to mess up the Wi-Fi I still had working.

Final solution: just got a 100ft Ethernet cable, routed cable thru PVC pipe in wall between the rooms, & connected printer to port on the modem.  Even works better than Wi-Fi!

You need to configure a unique SSID for the 2.4Ghz channel and only allow the printer to connect to that SSID.

Thank you for your reply.
Q1: How can I set up another SSID for 2.4Ghz channel dedicated to the printer?
Is there a procedure/documentation you could refer me to on this?
As I explained earlier, this is a Nokia BGW320-505 fiber modem.

Q2: Why didn't I need this w/ my previous DSL modems, with which never have this problems? Last one I had was a 2wire 1800WH.

Q3: The current Nokia BGW320-505 fiber modem has Ethernet ports available; would it be easier if I just installed this printer to the modem w/ an Ethernet cable? The run would be about 40 ft.
Thanx again.
