macOS 12.0 Monterey

I was told a week ago HP engineers are working on a fix. After spending hours on tech support calls and chats I finally spoke to an agent that told me their was a known issue with CL routers and HP engineers would have a fix/patch I a few days. This was only suggested after I inquired about returning the printer   So I waited.  In the meantime I received multiple emails that the support cases I opened were all closed without resolution.  After reaching out to tech support chat today they didn’t seem to have any clue about what I was talking about and suggested it was my network configuration that was the problem and they couldn’t help.

On my Monterey Mac, I had the same problem where the printer was offline after upgrading to the latest CL modem. The HP virtual assistant was of no help. In my case, it turned out that by default the printer and Mac were assigned different wireless bands (2.4 GHz on the printer, 5 GHz on my Mac). As a temporary fix, I had to logon to the modem's GUI address (this should be printed on your modem paper label) and disable the 5 GHz band in the Wireless Setup option (the '5 GHz Radio Setup' link). Doing this automatically re-assigned the 2.4 GHz band to my Mac. The printer then showed up in System Preferences > Printers & Scanners (you may need to add the driver again here). But this wasn't the end of the problem of being able to print. I also had to download and install the latest HP drivers on their website.

HP engineers need to find a fix to communicate and print with the new CL routers.

Two weeks ago I spent 2 1/2 hours on the phone with 2 different HP Support techs because I lost my connection.  The printer was connected to the network 6 months ago with no problem. They couldn't even get it to connect with USB. Finally I had to stop working on it that day.

Today, I was transferred through 9 different techs over a 2 hour period, some of them claiming this issue between HP and CL, others having no clue of any such issue. Others just wanted to run the same tests that had been tried before I was passed along to them. After some harsh words, I am now waiting for a Case Manager to get back to me about a possible replacement printer sometime in the next 2-3 days.

If this really is an issue between HP and CL, they should have been able to resolve it in a shorter time. I'm certain there must be millions of people with this same issue.

I guess more will be revealed.

Hello,

A fix for this printer model and CenturyLink C4000 routers has been posted to this other thread.  https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Wireless-Networking-Internet/Firmware-up-to-support-CenturyLin...
