HP ENVY 6455e All-in-One Printer

Given:

HP Envy 6455e

Android and Windows 10 O/S

Issue:

When attempting to use the printer (particularly from Android but occasionally from Win-10), Smart reports the printer as offline, however the printer is online via wireless with a fixed DHCP lease so it's always at the same IP address on my network.

 

The printer is available via the web interface and accepts commands and will print reports.

 

How do I convince HP Smart that the printer is actually alive and well, and available on my network?  I have not figured out how to force Smart to attempt to reconnect and it is necessary to wait for Smart to, eventually, decide that the printer actually exists before I can use it

 

This is particularly annoying with the Android app.
