HP SmartTank 6000. I have never been able to get it to connect to Verizon FIOS wireless router. I have it USB connected to one machine and I can run the Network Wizard. I can find my network, enter the WEP password, and the wizard will say it is connected. The blue light on the printer remains flashing, though, and if I check network status on the app, it still says it isn't connected and I don't see it connected on the router admin page, either.
I have also tried the wireless app from my laptop and it will switch to a direct wireless connection and go through its steps, but the printer fails to connect.
I haven't found a system log or anything to indicate where the connection attempt is failing nor do I see any sort of error message pop up.
Multiple other devices connect without issue.
Are there any other diagnostic steps that I can take? Is there any additional information that would help isolate the issue?

Resolved: The HP Smart Tank 6001 does not support 'Open' security. I was able to change my wireless router to 'Both' mode and the printer connected and everything else stayed connected.
To check for this (Windows 10): In the bottom, righthand corner, click on the up arrow to bring up the extended icon panel. Click on the wireless symbol. On the connected network, select 'Properties.' Scroll down to the end and there is a textual settings list. There will be an entry like: 'Security: Open.'
To correct, on an old Verizon FIOS router: Log on and click on 'Wireless Settings,' then select 'Advanced Security.' Under the heading, 'Level 1,' click on the circle next to the security type used (I am using WEP). These look like they are radio buttons, but they are actually drill down selects. There will be a select box for 'Network Authentication.' Change the selection from 'Open Security Authentication' to 'Both.' Note: I tried changing to 'Shared Certificate Authentication' and everything in the house lost wireless connectivity. Luckily, I was connected to the router over Ethernet not wireless. To be safe, use the 'Both' option.
Note: I was connected to the printer using the USB cable from my old printer. It really makes the configuration and testing a lot easier. HP does not ship a USB cable with the printer and it requires an odd squarish connector at the printer side.
