I have an HP Deskjet 3630 connected wirelessly. Normally works fine. However if I don't use it, or the computer for a day or two the on/off light dims and the printer goes offline. I have gone through all the HP recommendations to get it back on line many times but it keeps going offline. The on/off light is slightly dimmed so I press the on/off switch and the light comes brighter but the printer remains offline. Then if I press and hold the on/off switch to switch the printer off, then switch it on again it comes up and goes online. This is proving very frustrating.

@Duncodin, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
If there is no activity on the printer for couple of minutes, it enters sleep mode to conserve power. The printer should wake up and be online once you press any button on the printer.
We can resolve this issue by assigning a static IP address to the printer.
- Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to obtain the IP address.
- Type the IP address at the top of your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
- If you get any security notification, click on show details/advanced and 'proceed to this website'.
- Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
- Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
- Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
- Click on the radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)

Monitor the printer.

Hi Kumar0307
Thanks for that. I have applied those settings (interestingly the IP address suggestion changed from the existing DHCP applied address (forced by the MAC address to keep it consistent) of 192.168.0.59 to 192.168.0 254. Interestingly I had configured my DHCP server (in the router) to allocate the Google DNS servers so no change there. I'll monitor it for a couple of days and return to this forum thread to let you know how its going.

Hi Kumar,
Unfortunately your recommendation hasn't worked. I have just tried to print and it did nothing, even after pressing the power button to wake it up. I then used a command window to ping it and it was unreachable. Then took out the power cord, waited 10 secs, and put it back in. The ping worked and it printed after using the print queue manager to restart it.
