Hi @TonyM2508,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8610 printer isn't connecting to your new NBN fibre network through the Optus Ultra WiFi Modem SGM2, here are some steps to help you troubleshoot and resolve the wireless connection issue:

1. Check Printer’s Network Connection

A. Power Cycle Devices:

  • Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Restart your Optus Ultra WiFi Modem SGM2 by unplugging it for 30 seconds and then plugging it back in.
  • Once the modem is fully rebooted, plug in your printer and turn it on.

B. Connect to WiFi Network:

  • On your printer’s control panel, navigate to Setup or Network Settings.
  • Select Wireless Setup Wizard or Wireless Settings.
  • Choose your WiFi network from the list and enter the password when prompted.

2. Verify Network Compatibility

A. Check WiFi Band Compatibility:

  • Ensure that your printer supports the frequency band your network is using. Some printers only support 2.4 GHz networks, while modern routers might broadcast on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.
  • If your modem is broadcasting on 5 GHz and your printer only supports 2.4 GHz, make sure your modem is also broadcasting a 2.4 GHz network. You can usually check and configure this through the modem’s settings.

B. Verify Network Name (SSID):

  • Ensure that the network name (SSID) displayed on your printer matches exactly with the network name from your modem. Network names are case-sensitive.

3. Reconfigure Network Settings on Printer

A. Reset Network Settings:

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup > Network > Restore Network Settings or Reset Network Settings.
  • After resetting, repeat the steps to connect to the WiFi network using the Wireless Setup Wizard.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Rachel,

thanks for this reply & I tried all 3 options but still no luck. I confirm that I have both 2.4Ghz & 5Ghz available on the new modem. Any more ideas?
