Hi @Cynthia1989,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your Spectrum router doesn’t have a WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) button, you can still connect your HP printer to your wireless network using alternative methods. Here’s a step-by-step guide to set up a wireless connection on your HP printer without WPS:
1. Prepare Your Printer
Turn on Your Printer:
- Ensure your printer is powered on and ready.
Access Wireless Setup:
- On the printer’s control panel, navigate to the wireless settings. This is usually found under a Setup or Network menu.
2. Connect Printer to Wi-Fi Network
Method 1: Using Printer’s Control Panel
Go to Wireless Settings:
- On the printer’s control panel, find the Wireless icon or menu. It may be labeled as Wireless Setup Wizard, Network Setup, or similar.
Select Wireless Setup Wizard:
- Choose the Wireless Setup Wizard option from the menu.
Choose Your Network:
- The printer will search for available networks. Select your Wi-Fi network (SSID) from the list.
Enter Wi-Fi Password:
- Enter your Wi-Fi password when prompted. Use the printer’s control panel to input the password. Be sure to enter it correctly, including any uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.
Complete Setup:
- Follow any remaining prompts to complete the setup. The printer will attempt to connect to the network.
Method 2: Using HP Smart App
Install HP Smart App:
- Download and install the HP Smart app from the HP Smart website or your device’s app store.
Open HP Smart App:
- Launch the HP Smart app and follow the on-screen instructions to set up your printer.
Add Your Printer:
- The app should detect your printer. Select Set up a new printer or Add printer.
Connect to Wi-Fi:
- Follow the app’s prompts to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network. You’ll need to select your network and enter the Wi-Fi password.
3. Verify Printer Connection
Print Network Configuration Page:
- You can print a network configuration page from the printer’s control panel to verify the connection. Look for options like Print Network Configuration or Print Wireless Report.
Check Printer Status:
- Ensure that the printer shows a connection to the wireless network and that the wireless light is on.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
