ENVY 4500
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

I have followed the instructions in HP Smart to get the printer claim code but the printer doesn't seem to have a web server built into it. I have tried IP addresses 192.168.176.28 (the printer network address) and 192.168.223.1 (the URL given in the printer status report) but neither address comes up with a web page.

The printer connects to HP Smart and I can print from the Android phone OK. I just can't find the claim code to be able to order a new colour ink cartridge as the old one is running very low and HP haven't sent a replacement yet.

Hi,

For the cartridge issue, I suggest contacting HP Instant Ink Support in the UK to get a replacement cartridge shipped:

For the older HP ePrint address, you may contact HP Privacy team below, be sure to add a clear description of your originally used HP ePrint address and the HP Account ID used with the HP ePrint address, they should be able to help re-using the old address for your account:

Apologies, I have now found the web server. The correct IP address is 192.168.178.28. However I can't see a link to the printer claim code required for connecting to the Instant Ink account.

All very frustrating.

What a load of rubbish! I had to disable wireless access on the printer and re-enable it to get the printer claim code, which did allow me to get logged in to HP Smart (actually HP Idiot would be a better term). However I now cannot use my printer's old email address and have had to create a new one! Also, having managed to get logged in to HP Smart I still cannot find my monthly usage page nor can I order a replacement colour cartridge which is running extremely low.

You couldn'tmake it up!
