I changed my router today - new wi-fi address.  I can't work out how to change the wi-fi address for my printer to access the wi-fi.

Hi @Tomrsj,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If you've changed your router and your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 is still trying to connect to the old Wi-Fi network, you'll need to update the printer's wireless settings so it can connect to your new network.

Here’s how to do it:

Option 1: Use the Printer’s Control Panel

  1. On the printer’s touchscreen, tap the Wireless icon or go to Settings > Wireless Settings.
  2. Tap Wireless Setup Wizard.
  3. The printer will search for available networks.
  4. Select your new Wi-Fi network name (SSID).
  5. Enter your Wi-Fi password using the on-screen keyboard.
  6. Tap Done and wait for the connection to complete.

You should see a confirmation message once it’s connected.

Option 2: Use HP Smart App (Windows/macOS/iOS/Android)

  1. Download or open the HP Smart app:
    👉 HP Smart
  2. Make sure your PC or phone is connected to the new Wi-Fi.
  3. Open the app and click Add Printer.
  4. Follow the prompts to reconnect the printer to the new network.

Option 3: Reset Network Settings (if needed)

If the printer won’t connect or shows the old network:

  1. On the printer, go to Settings > Wireless Settings > Restore Network Defaults.
  2. Confirm the reset.
  3. Then repeat the Wireless Setup Wizard steps above.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
