HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a

This printer finally crapped out after 67,000 copies.  I want to get it to a landfill but before I do that I need to know about any memory chip(s) in it and if there are, how do I do a factory reset on it before trashing it.  Thank you all.

Hi @MMaurie,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the memory chip and factory reset for the HP Officejet Pro 8600 printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

The HP Officejet Pro 8600 printer does indeed have a small amount of memory that stores settings, preferences, and possibly some print information. To perform a factory reset of your HP 8600 printer and clear out any user settings stored in its memory, you can follow these steps:

Go to the Setup Menu:

  • Touch the setup icon on the printer's control panel.

Access the Printer Maintenance Menu:

  • Navigate to the "Printer Maintenance" section.

Restore Factory Defaults:

  • Look for the option named "Restore Factory Defaults."
  • Select this option.

This should reset the printer to its original factory settings, clearing user data that might be stored on the device.

After the reset, your printer's settings and data will be erased, which is suitable before disposing of or recycling the printer.

I hope this helps.
