HP Smart Tank 7305 All-in-One

Have Macbook pro running Sequoia 15.4.1.

I have a HP Smarttank 7305 and a wifi newtowrk.

I had to replace the router with a new one and wnet through the process of establishing a new network connection with the printer.

I cannot print on wifi as I keep getting Certificate Expired. I have tried to renew the certificate using the app and the webpage but the problem persists. I reset the printer to factory settings and then reconfigured it but still get the certificate issue. After each attempt I rebooted the printer and the laptop.

So now I have a printer I cannot print with.

@MitchNL, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

1. Check Date and Time on Printer

If the printer's date and time are not set correctly, SSL certificates may be treated as expired even if they are not. Make sure the printer’s date and time are correct:

Access the Printer’s Web Interface (using the printer's IP address):

  • Open a browser and type the printer's IP address in the URL bar.
  • Log in to the printer’s web interface (admin credentials required).

Check and Correct the Date/Time:

  • Navigate to Settings > General Settings > Date and Time.
  • Ensure that the date, time, and time zone are correct.

Reboot the Printer after adjusting the date/time to ensure the settings are applied.

2. Generate a New Self-Signed Certificate

If the certificate has expired and you’ve tried generating a self-signed certificate without success, try the following:

Option 1: Use the Printer's Web Interface to Create a New Certificate

Log into the Printer’s Web Interface:

  • Type the printer's IP address in a web browser (you can find this on the printer display menu under Network > TCP/IP or Wi-Fi settings).

Go to the Security Settings:

  • In the web interface, navigate to Security > Certificates or Web Services (this may vary depending on the printer’s firmware version).

Generate a New Self-Signed Certificate:

  • You may have an option to create or renew a certificate directly from this interface.
  • Follow the prompts to generate a new self-signed certificate.
  • Once generated, restart the printer.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
